Chill Out

August 25, 2011

I’ve always been a pop-lovin’ girl. If you’re like me and making pops sounds like a delicious and fun thing to do on a hot summer day, then I recommend you make them with the Zoku Quick Pop maker. I’ve been using mine all summer long — I love it! It’s the rapid-freeze feature that chills me the most (7 minutes to frozen). I suggest you buy the basic pop maker (2 or 3 pops) and the storage case. The case is a convenient way to store the pops in the freezer — if they aren’t eaten right away. And be sure to watch this video Zoku Quick Pop maker to learn the ins and outs of easy pop making.

If you’re looking to get out of the heat, then stay inside and (re)watch the movie Chocolat, starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp (perhaps while eating a homemade chocolate pop).

Chocolat tells the story of a young mother, played by Juliette Binoche, who arrives at the fictional, repressed French village of Lansquenet-sous-Tannes with her 6-year-old daughter and opens La Chocolaterie Maya, a small chocolaterie. Her chocolate quickly begins to change the lives of the townspeople as they open up to pleasure.

Are you keeping your cool and diving into the pleasures of summer? I’d love to hear how. If you haven’t commented yet, please do. Not only will you satisfy my insatiable curiosity, you could become a beekeeper. At the end of every month, I draw a name from the posted comments, and that sweet reader receives a special gift — honeybees purchased through Heifer International — in their name. The gift of bees helps families find freedom from hunger and poverty throughout South America. Bees’ very purpose for living is pollination, which is vital in putting food on tables around the world, in addition to producing sweet, healing honey. It’s just one more way I love to share the honey goodness with you and so many others.
